"Major KUDOS on taking on such a task as putting on a new area race and having such success with the turnout.  The number of volunteers was just incredible and at every level.  The aid station volunteers were ALL absolutely terrific.  As an often-times volunteer, I know what it's like to stand out in the howling wind for so long and I cannot express how very appreciative I was for each and every aid station and for each and ever volunteer.  The D.J. and the music was just so awesome!  So inspiring to have the service-related placards along the way (World War I, Afghanistan, Purple Hearts, etc.).   I am married to a veteran so those really meant a lot and were such a good reminder of the purpose of this race.   Thanks again for a wonderful racing experience and for your hard work of many, many hours to make it possible." ~Ruthann N

"It was my first experience in an organized race and thought it went extremely well. Everything seemed to be well coordinated with various pit stops along the half-marathon route and the spread at the end of the race was great. I didn't utilize the massage therapists that were there, but I thought that was a great touch.  Overall, I thought it was an outstanding event!" ~Ken L

"3 of us came from Oregon to run this race on the suggestion of my dad, Bill L who's a Vietnam vet. CLEAN bathrooms! WOW! This was great! Well stocked. We arrived about 20 minutes prior to gun time & there was still soap, TP & paper towels in flushable toilet bathrooms. Greatly appreciated. Water stations & porta potty markers on the bathroom door - wise place to put it. I liked the boards with the war names, medals, company names along the way too. Made me think running this is the least I can do for the people who've served. Exciting start & finish for a small-town race. DJ, banners, postings updated with finisher times. All great! Course; Loved it. Beautiful, just the right amount of up & down (hills) to keep muscle groups working. Chipped race. Parking. Easy, plenty of it. Your course description on the website said something like beautiful & challenging with some hills. I have to say I had a little fear about that but this is the first race where the description wasn't to be feared. Your hill at mile 3 or so was a good one & one the way back around 11. I think it was the 16 mph wind in the face that made that one a gut buster. I felt well prepared & (pleasantly suprised it wasn't worse) for what your course had in store based on the description given.  LOVED the tile that said 'THIS HILL SUCKS'. Made me laugh out loud! Definitely repeat putting this tile at the last hill next year. Well staffed race. All the people out directing us through intersections, the boy scouts along the way, water stop volunteers everyone was great. Homemade goodies. What a personal touch. Thinking that families baked cookies & muffins for us to munch on afterwards blows me away. And that was in addition to the usual post-race fare. Medals. We love bling.  I congratulate you on a job well done. We hope to come back next year & bring a few buddies who weren't able to make it this year."

"Overall, the course was exactly what I was looking for.  It is the volunteers make an event like this a success. I regret that I was not able to thank each one of them during the race. It is almost unheard of to have a first time event of this magnitude run as smoothly as Vet Fest appears to have went.
